Ingredients:
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
- 4 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
Instructions:
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread half of the bread cubes in the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour half of the apple mixture over the bread cubes in the dish. Top with the remaining bread cubes and pour the remaining apple mixture over the top.
- In a separate bowl, combine the chopped pecans, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and cold butter cubes. Mix with a fork or your fingers until crumbly. Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the bread and apples.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove the plastic wrap from the dish and bake the French toast for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Note: This overnight French toast bake can be prepared the night before and refrigerated overnight, making it perfect for a hassle-free breakfast in the morning.
